2025 Artist In Residence

Nyla Adina (She/Her)

Dance Artist

During this residency with Dirtbaby Farm, I have been working on my knowledge of farming, through planting, harvesting and nourishing the soil, alongside working through my body, by putting forth an energy of love and an invitation to the ancestors.  Working through the connection between dancing and farming, I have made revelations in both physical and metaphysical ways.

My favorite South Philly quote is tattooed alongside my left arm: “They tried to bury us, but we are the root and the seed..”

I’ve been affirmed in my being, an iroko tree, with a spine full of memory. This experience has been a journey back home to myself, my lineage, my ancestry, my community and Mother Earth. It has been a grounding practice that I will carry with me for generations, and a practice of unconditional love and attention that I will cherish. I feel blessed to have come closer to my roots, the work of my ancestors, and the privilege of enjoying what was grown in this blessed farm with my family.

I give Thanks for this experience!
