CSA Membership Agreement

June 3 - October 14, 2026

By joining us as a CSA member and purchasing a CSA share, you are sharing the abundance as well as the risk with us as farmers. We are incredibly grateful for your trust and hold ourselves accountable to the promise of feeding you. There is also much out of our control in farming — the weather, insects, birds, groundhogs, social & political circumstances, the health of our bodies and the overall health of our city at large (to name a few). As a CSA member, you understand that our growing season may not always go as planned. We may not be able to grow every single crop as well as we hope. We will be doing our very best to provide a bountiful share each week, but the share size and quality may fluctuate each week due to the unpredictable nature of farming.

What You Will Receive

This summer and fall we are excited to be growing: collards, kale, arugula, mustard greens, radishes, beets, carrots, cilantro, potatoes, fennel, parsley, garlic, onions, sage, tulsi, basil, oregano, rosemary, mint, bee balm, yarrow, tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, squash, cucumber, lettuce, flowers and more. Additionally, you may receive foraged items, or items consensually harvested from neighbors plots, which we consider to increase the nutritional diversity of your weekly share whilst supporting the bounty of our natural landscape. In the case that we do not have enough of a single item for each CSA share we will substitute with produce of equal value or provide members with a choice between two items. This bounty will come to you in the form of 20 weeks, 9-14 items per week, seasonal, fresh or freshly dried, hyper local produce!

Alongside the produce you will receive a newsletter that gives you information about the items in your share that week, recipe ideas, stories and cultural context for the food we grow, thoughts about the world, and ways to be further involved with our farm. We welcome communication, feedback, and recipe sharing throughout the duration of the CSA because that is what Community Supported Agriculture is all about!

Payment

Payment in full is due at the time of purchase by May 1st. Our CSA program has limited inventory and is first come, first serve. Our share prices are $500-$900 sliding scale for 20 weeks. Please email us if you need a payment installment plan.

If you would like to purchase a share with SNAP Benefits please read our SNAP Addendum prior to checkout.

Pick-up

You are responsible for picking up your share each week (or coordinating with a friend to do so). We offer pick-up at First United Methodist Church of Germantown (6001 Germantown Avet, Philadelphia, PA 19144) on Wednesdays between 3pm78pm. At Pick-up, you are expected to bring your own bag / box / basket to carry your share home in. Your share will be pre-packed in coolers.

Our produce will be extremely fresh when you receive it; either harvested that day or just a couple days before. We do rinse most of our produce during harvest, but you may find some soil or an occasional bug. Please wash and store your produce properly once you take it home. Please pick-up, cook and prepare all of your produce with care: we cannot be responsible for any injury you may incur through your participation as a CSA member.

Missed Pickup

Please note that our farmers invest a great amount of time and effort into feeding you. As we are committed to growing your produce, in exchange, we require your commitment to your designated pick up schedule.  Please send a friend or family member to pick-up your share if you cannot! If you do not pick up your share in the designated window (as outlined in the above pickup section), we will donate it to someone else in our community.

Cancellations

When you become a CSA member, you are making a commitment--a commitment we rely on. We cannot issue refunds, full or partial, and do not accept returns of any CSA shares. If something unexpected happens, you may find someone to transfer an individual share or your membership to, but payment and coordination would be your sole responsibility. Please let us know if there is a way we can help; for example, connecting you to someone on our waitlist.

Health and Safety

We stand in accordance with the standard protocol set by the First United Methodist Church of Germantown for pickup.

Dirtbaby Farm abides by standard health and safety recommendations and protocols set by the CDC and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health in regards to food preparation, distribution, and COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns about what specifically this means at a given point in the season, please ask.  We are happy to go into detail about our expectations and procedures.

Communication

The best way to communicate with us is via email or phone. You can reach us at dirtbabyfarm@gmail.com or leave us a message at 215-315-7994.

We will communicate with you by email. Each week, we will email you a newsletter that gives you information about the items in your share that week, recipe ideas, stories and cultural context for the food we grow, thoughts about the world, and ways to be further involved with our farm.

By purchasing a membership/CSA share of any size to Dirbaby Farm’s CSA, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this document. Please keep a copy of this agreement for your records.
